
Dr. Nasser Ashgriz Professional Profile
Dr. Nasser Ashgriz is Chairman of UIPatent, a patent attorney, engineer, and professor with extensive experience in intellectual property, innovation, and technology development. He received his J.D. from the School of Law at the State University of New York in 1996 and is admitted to the New York Bar. He has been registered as a U.S. patent attorney since 1999 and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Dr. Nasser Ashgriz has filed more than 1,000 patent applications and has extensive experience helping innovators protect and commercialize new technologies. He is also the author of four books and more than 300 articles. His book “Patent Pending in Eight Simple Steps: File Your Own Patent Application” explains the process of preparing and filing patent applications.
Dr. Nasser Ashgriz is a Professor of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto. Prior to joining the University of Toronto, he was a Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He earned his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
He is a fellow of the American and Canadian Societies of Mechanical Engineers (ASME and CSME), the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC), and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). He has also served as a visiting scientist at national laboratories, including NASA Lewis Research Center and Phillips Laboratory at Edwards Air Force Base.
